Mission and Vision:

Mission:

The Central Library’s mission is to support teaching learning and research of the college community by providing comprehensive resources and services in all three stream of Arts, Science and commerce and nurture the life-long reading learning habit in its user community. To fulfill this mission, the library commits to act as Knowledge hub of the state – of –the- art nature.

Library Management:

The Library Committee consisting of nine members is constituted on 08/06/2020 for overall management of the Central Library. With their experience, they extend advice and new ideas from time to time regarding developmental actions of the library. The present Committee is constituted with:

Library Sections:

Central Library is divided into different sections for organizing information and making it easier to find what is needed.

Property Counter: Here, library users are advised to keep their personal belongings including handbags, personal book, copy, tiffin, water bottle, umbrella etc. Personal belongings kept here has to be taken on the same day itself and if it is kept beyond one day the staff of the library will not held responsible for the belongings

Security Desk: Here, library users have to show their id card and sign in the Log in Register at the time of entering the library. Books issued on loan taken from inside the library are to be given for inspection by the security staff while leaving the library. Users are requested to enter the leaving time in the same register.

Stack Area: Here the main collections of the library text books are displayed. Books are arranged on shelves as per Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Each book is assigned a Class Number and Book Number. In this arrangement books on the same subject are kept together. As Library follows Open Access System, users are free to visit the stack area to select their own choice.

Reference Section : Here, the rare and valuable collections of books of different subjects are displayed. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlas, biographies of national and international coverage kept. They are meant to aid research by providing quick and accessible information on any particular topic. Users are not allowed to borrow books from this section.

Journal, Periodicals & Newspaper Section: Here, Journals, Magazines and newspapers have been displayed separately on display rack. Journal contains articles that appear more recent then book on a subject, particularly in the ever changing field of politics, economic, science and technology. Magazines ranging from popular and career oriented are kept. Newspapers of national, state and regional level are kept. Users are not allowed to borrow from this section

New Arrival Section: Here, newly processed books are displayed at a revolving stand for some days to create a center of attraction for the users before they finally go to the sack area in respective subject.

Book Bank Section: Here some text books are kept where from students belonging SC, ST, OBC category and economically poor students can have two books each for a Semester. At the end of the Semester they have to return back in proper condition.

Reading Room Section: Here, around 25 seats are available for readers. It may be used by any reader who wishes to study and consult reference books or general reading of books from any part of the library.

Circulation Section: This section represents the hub of library activities where lending out of books to readers is facilitated. Nearly all the members of the library visit this section for getting books on loan for home use at one or the other time. For circulation section we use SOUL 2.0 library software (developed by INFLIBNET centre, Ahmadabad) Students can issue, return, renew and reserve books from this section.

Technical Processing Section: This section is very crucial section of the library. This section is responsible for processing of books before they finally go to stack area. Classification, Cataloguing, leveling, pasting and other technical process are done in this section.

Book Binding Section: It is a section where a torn out, damaged, out of shape books are properly bound. The collections are bound when necessary for preservation purpose and to keep them in a usable state for readers.

Bound-Volume Section: In this section, old issues of journals, magazines and newspapers are kept and these are bounded from time to time. They are kept in classified order so that the back issues if when needed can be retrieved easily.

OPAC Section: Online Public Access Catalogue is a online catalogue system where from by clicking on various fields of bibliographic details like Title, Author, Subject, Publisher, classification number, keywords one can easily get to know the availability of the book in the college database.

IT Section: Automated service are provided from this section. All sections of the library have been connected through LAN. Computer database of the holdings of the library has already been created using Library Management Software SOUL. Hardware software maintenance, maintenance of Library Management Server, Internet Service, E –Resource Access service, Database maintenance, generating bar coded library card, creating membership details etc are some of the activities of this section

e-librray: The e-Library facility housed in the first floor of the Library building of the College provides a quiet and comfortable ambience for faculty members to access the Internet for research work. Students can also avail access to this set-up for their assignment and project work under supervision of teachers. Since 2018, the College is regularly subscribing to the INFLIBNET N-LIST (an MHRD INITIATIVE) paid services which provide free access to substantial number of e-books and e-journals to the students and faculty members. A free short-term trial service was provided by NLIST from 2011-2015 too. A proposal for subscription to e-journals apart from those provided by NLIST is also in the pipeline
.

Reprography Section: The Library provides photocopying facility within the premises of the Library at subsidized rates. Books from Reference Section and Journals/Periodicals cannot be borrowed. New photocopier has been installed in library so that users can get required portion of such books and journals photocopied at the approved rates given below.
