About NCC, Cachar College:
Cachar College is situated in the northern part of Silchar town nearer to the east and west approach of the ever-expanding township and stands beside the major thoroughfare on a 5.33 acre plot of land where it came up more than four decades ago (April 25, 1960). The introduction of NCC (Army Wing) at Cachar College for Boys Senior Division (SD) in 2005 marked the beginning of a transformative journey. Nestled under the umbrella of the 3 Assam Bn NCC, Silchar, this venture embarked on with a modest cohort of 20 enthusiastic cadets. At present, the Boys Senior Division (SD) has a strength of 100 cadets, representing a significant increase since its inception. Subsequently, in 2021, NCC (Army Wing) at Cachar College Senior Wing (SW) for girls was started under 62 Assam Girls Bn NCC, Silchar with an authorized strength of 50 cadets.
The growth in numbers, however, is not merely quantitative but symbolizes the maturation of a vision, the nurturing of leadership, and the forging of character. A remarkable hallmark of the NCC Cachar College journey lies in its consistent ability to channel talent towards national defense. On average, 10 cadets annually make their mark by getting recruited into the central and state armed forces with prestigious ranks.
The cadets' journey extends beyond barracks, drills, and the realm of military service. They find resonance in various spheres of society. The NCC ethos instills values that transcend the uniform and reverberate in the cadets' roles as responsible citizens. These young cadets, honed by the NCC's training, excel in diverse domains - be it academia, defense, governance, entrepreneurship, and community services. As the sun sets on each passing day, it casts its rays upon the NCC cadets who stand tall, with their hearts brimming with pride and determination. They are the torchbearers of the legacy created in the year 2005 at Cachar College, and they continue to illuminate the path towards a better, stronger, and more united India.
